Throwback Thursday - Santana

This Cinco de Mayo we honor Santana.  Santana was formed in San Francisco in 1967 around guitarist Carlos Santana.  Their breakthrough came in 1969 at Woodstock just months after finishing their self-titled debut.

In 1970, their second album, Abraxas, peaked at #1 on the US Billboard Top 200 fueled by the success of the song "Black Magic Woman."

Legacy

Santana remains relevant to this day, his psychedelic Latin sound is distinct. He had a return to commercial success in 1999 with his album Supernatural, which enlisted the help of many notable singers. Rolling Stone named Carlos number 15 on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarist of All Time in 2003.

Take Away Tuesday - José González

José González is unique, his performances consistent mostly of just him and his guitar.  So besides a slight cough, this take away show posed no problem!

A native of Sweden, his pursuit of a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Gothenburg was interrupted by his music career.

Nothing more awkward than the one person clap

"I think we're going to have to forget about the radio and just go back to word of mouth."
